MAGICAL® DRUG-ELUTING STENT SYSTEM (DESs)

MAGICAL®

MAGICAL® is a safe option to significantly enhance the long-term quality of patient treatment.

The MAGICAL® stent deployment is supported by a short-term drug elution to the stented arterial wall via the paclitaxel-coated stent delivery balloon.

MAGICAL® represents the latest - state of the art - cobalt chromium coronary stent technology of GENIUS® MAGIC CC delivered by our latest generation paclitaxel eluting coronary balloon dilatation catheter DIOR®.

Based on the bioflexible stenting concept, MAGICAL® effectively provides a "magical stenting performance", to the fullest satisfaction of the interventional cardiologist.

MAGICAL® is made of L605, with even 10% less nickel content than stainless steel. Nickel is one major material factor which produces sensitivity reaction. For sensitive patients like diabetic patients, MAGICAL® is recommended.
Super-thin stent of 0.0025" strut thickness only, reduces foreign body impact.

The total stent volume is minus 55% if compared with most other coronary stents, widely used on the market. Comment of renowed US pathologist Renu Virmani at an interview at PCR 06.: "Struts make a big difference. It is clear that the thinner the struts the better the design.“ Lowest lesion crossing profile of 0.032" only compared with a high radial force.

The Cobalt Chromium Stent is delivered by our approven DEB DIOR®.

Advantages of DIOR®:

  • Clinical proven coating Non crystallin coating
  • Pre-clinical approved
  • Polymer free carrier (Shellac)
  • Shellac is FDA approved and is Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS)

With a standard DES the struts of the stent are coated (approx. 15% of the surface of the lesion). MAGICAL® eluts the drug directly from the balloon surface within 60 seconds that means approx. 85% of the lesion gets in direct contact with the drug over a short time delivery.

MAGICAL® benefits:

  • Excellent deliverability
  • Short dual antiplatelet therapy (3 months)
  • Significant reduction in acute and late thrombotic events
  • Clinical approven balloon coating method
  • Clincial approven coating
  • Clincial approven cobald chromium stent
  • Polymer free stent drug eluting stent system
  • Less than 10% nickel

THE MODE OF ACTION:

Lesion site dilated with a normal balloon.

MAGICAL® catheter introduced and inflated at lesion for one minute in single or multiple
inflations.

Paclitaxel, the lipophilic drug, is absorbed by the arterial wall.

Paclitaxel inhibits most smooth muscle cells (SMC) from migrating, multiplying and proliferating.

In vivo studies show traces of paclitaxel for up to 72 hours, reducing effects of toxicity and inflammation.

MAGICAL® system reduces the risk of late stent thrombosis.

Dual antiplatelet therapy to be given for a period of 3 months or at the physician's discretion.

MAGICAL® is a “must to use” way of significantly enhancing the long-term quality of patient treatment. MAGICAL® stent deployment is supported by a short-term drug-elution to the stented arterial wall via the paclitaxel-coated stent delivery balloon (loaded with 3 µg/mm2 balloon surface ).

MAGICAL’s® Greatest Clinical Advantage and the Overwhelming Benefit for the Patient

MAGICAL® offers the option for a shortened dual antiplatelet therapy (3 months). This means a decisively better life quality after stenting. MAGICAL® is a possible option for “high risk patients” – who may have to face a surgical operation and for “non-compliant patients” i.e. patients who do not follow their physician’s instructions.

Advantages of MAGICAL® System

  • Excellent deliverability
  • Short-term dual antiplatelet therapy
  • Significant reduction in acute and late thrombotic events
